Rules and Recommendations for Retreats

To be read carefully

Send your personal data by filling out the form Registration for retreats to give membership to the event; you will then be contacted. Reservations are accepted only after completing the form and then paying the deposit. Single rooms can be reserved if availability allows. In certain cases, when specified, the single room may require a supplement. For other needs, call 3207222193. Read on afterwards The Vipassana Technique.

Upon arrival at the course, the student will be asked to pay the difference in the fee and to fill in the privacy form containing: general information, the contact details of a person to contact in case of urgent needs, and the declaration if one/ one has suffered, or suffers from mental and/or physical pathologies. After sending the form, new students may be contacted by the teacher for a short telephone interview and the teacher will reserve the right to accept or deny the registration.

According to Theravada tradition, teaching is free, but the teacher makes advance arrangements with the hosting facilities to guarantee the success of a retreat and an adequate number of booked people, which if not reached could lead to the cancellation of the retreat. It is therefore better to communicate your membership in time and pay the deposit at least two weeks before the start date. However, see the information for each individual event on the short and long retreat calendar. Donations to the Teacher are welcome.

Methods to follow for a Vipassana Meditation retreat.

The student must show up on the same day as the start of the retreat, the time is communicated from time to time according to the type of event. The student will not be able to abandon the retreat before the end, which is set after 9:00 am on the last day established by the program. During the retreat, the use of mobile phones or other devices is not permitted, except in emergency cases to be agreed with the teacher.

Students are invited to bring with them anything that may be useful for the sitting practice: comfortable clothes, of appropriate weight according to the season (tracksuits, fleece, etc.), an alarm clock, meditation cushion, mat or plaid to put underneath legs and shawl or scarf to cover yourself during the practice, as it is not permitted to take pillows, blankets or other materials from the rooms of the host facility.

The style and color of the clothes should be inspired by the discretion of meditative work (avoid bright colors, if possible flip-flops). It is not recommended to wear jewelery and use perfume. In the dormitories the division between males and females is respected. This division also exists in the refectory. All students are strongly advised to always respect the Noble and Silenzionbsp; during the retreat period, to develop mental awareness to the required level, keeping distractions to a minimum.

Here and now

The key to overcoming suffering and ignorance lies in awareness of the present moment. Many paths of liberation center their teachings on the “Here and Now”. Let's see it again but this time with the eyes of the heart...The greatest difficulty consists in remembering to be aware and to live in the present moment: to overcome it you must be sincerely interested in proceeding, and not consider inner growth a trend or a whim or something to show off; but on the other hand if this will becomes desire or greed, it hinders and blocks.

Once we are actually inside the "Here and Now", we try to grasp its most significant aspects: reality is "what is, as it is" and not as we would like or like or as we think or imagine it to be. We can only surrender to reality, give in, renounce all claims, admit our inability to make things or sensations be as we like or dislike. We humbly take the sensations that are proposed to us: we leave barefoot from the stronghold of our ego and our ignorance and we accept that there is something that is not ours and that we do not know, and with curiosity and respect we simply observe it, letting enter us and let her teach us and make what must happen happen. Finally we refrain from interfering with the flow of events, and we unite and become that flow.

Everything that is needed and can be known is not in mysterious and distant places, in exotic or foreign countries, or where famous Masters reside: it is "Here" where we are, it is always and in any case where we are, whatever the place where we are we find, it follows us relentlessly, it's as if it were INSIDE us. And there is no favorable moment to wait for, it is not necessary to wait to feel "good", to be good, fit or strong, or wait for something particular to happen: for inner growth the right moment is precisely what we are living “NOW” as we read these words, is every moment we experience as we experience it.

“What is” is true, it is truth. Everything that happens and moves is a point of reference and indication for arriving at the truth: the confusion is not outside, but is in our eyes, in our minds, minds conditioned by greed and fixations, in the stubborn clinging to what we desire to obtain, achieve, or become. Reality never lies.

In the "HERE and NOW" we encounter reality with the flow of energy that pervades it, and the Truth: all this requires great attention and a kind of mental and emotional openness to "let it in" and become part of us. We are forced to give up what we believe to be "myself", all the preconceptions, definitions, ideas, memories, habits that concern ourselves, basically everything we think we know or have learned about us. This renunciation of keeping the structures of our ego standing leaves the space for the flow of reality-truth to truly be part of us, and with amazement, we will discover that we have not become amorphous vegetables, but that a new force acts and moves within and through us, we will discover a new part of ourselves. This part cannot have a name and cannot be defined; acts in complete spontaneity; it is consistently nothing other than itself; he has no goals to achieve, it's as if he doesn't need anything, and what he does is an end in itself: he sits to sit, eats to eat, works to work... Everything beyond the ego, beyond thought, letting the new grow, what has not yet been withered by the fire of our desires...
